Upper Mustang Biking Tour is the pinnacle of adventure and was created just for daring cyclists. Explore the lost kingdom of Lo, the Mustang Valley’s spectacular vistas, and old Tibetan civilizations. Our mountain biking journey to the Upper Mustang Valley is a once-in-a-lifetime adventure and a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Upper Mustang, where our objective point ‘Lo-Manthang’ is located, is a remote and forbidden region off-limits to tourists until 1992.
The Upper Mustang Mountain Bike is a fantastic physical and cultural mountain biking adventure to the distant kingdom of Lo (Upper Mustang). The Upper Mustang Bicycle Tour is not a technical ride, but the high altitude makes it challenging on a jeep road and village trails. During the Upper Mustang cycling tour, connexion discovers Lo’s ancient kingdom with its unique history, wild but compassionate people still living healthy traditional lives identical to their predecessors 500 years ago. We will visit old gompas and monasteries while mountain biking in Upper Mustang, where we will see stunning 500-year-old art treasures hanging on the walls. We’ll meet folks whose ancestors created it and learn about current Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
The Upper Mustang Mountain Bike Ride will allow you to experience the western side of Annapurna and the Kali Gandaki Valley, the world’s deepest valley (7000m). Muktinath, an exciting spot, an important pilgrimage site, and an old trading post still ringing with many traders, gurus, and sadhus finding their refuge and purpose here, will be the destination of our Upper Mustang Mountain Bike excursion. We’ll descend the Kali Gandaki Valley to Tatopani, which means “Hot Water” and is named for the hot springs that bubble up along the valley’s banks. We’ll take the jeep road through the bush from Tatopani to Beni to catch our transportation back to Pokhara.
Welcome to Kathmandu, the wonderful city. We will meet you at the Tribhuvan International Airport’s arrival area and transport you to your accommodation. Spend the evening exploring Thamel’s bustling streets or relaxing in your hotel room.
We’ll spend the first half of today obtaining your permissions, as you’ll be seeing some of the Himalayas’ most restricted areas. We’ll travel to Pokhara in the afternoon, passing through towns, green hills, and mountains for a breathtaking vista. We will meet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel in Pokhara. Enjoy an evening wandering through the Lakeside area and participating in recreational activities.
We drive to the airport early in the morning and board the first aircraft to Jomsom (20minutes). The Pokhara-Jomsom flight, which takes you through the world’s deepest gorge, signals the beginning of your adventure. We will eat breakfast and set up our mountain bikes when we arrive. We then begin biking to Kagbeni. To get to Kagbeni, we bike via the Kali Gandaki Gorge and take the jeep trail. We can stop by the 1000-year-old red-painted Gumba and explore other areas along the way.
We get up early to catch the spectacular dawn, which bathes the white snowy peak in gold hues. Today we will be bicycling uphill on the jeep track to Muktinath after enjoying ourselves and taking some beautiful shots. We will have lunch at Jharkot, where we will be able to visit various monasteries and learn about the local people and culture. We continue climbing uphill until we reach Muktinath’s sacred temple.
Today, we go to Muktinath Temple for the morning puja. We then continue our journey to the mysterious Upper Mustang. We’ll climb to Gyu La Pass (4077m) before descending to Chhusang. We then bike through rocky roads near the Kali Gandaki River’s banks before crossing a bridge. We bike uphill to Chele, a tiny settlement that rewards you with a unique perspective of Mt. Nilgiri (7061m) and the Kaligandaki Gorge. Here, we look at some historic structures and monasteries.
We head north, towards the majestic Himalayan range. As we progress uphill, we will have a spectacular perspective of the places and terrain. Between Chele and Syangboche, there are four passes: Taklam La (3624m), Dajori La (3735m), Bhena La (3860m), and Yamdo La (3860m) (3860m). We’ll take a quick break in Samar before continuing to Syangboche. We’ll meet locals and learn about their culture and way of life. Along the walk, keep an eye out for ponies and donkeys. In Syangboche, spend the night in a lodge.
First, we ascend a short distance to Syangboche La Pass (3850m). We get a fantastic view of Nilgiri (7061m) and the Annapurna mountain from Syangboche La. We’ll take the plain trail to Gilling and ascend past some beautiful villages. We descend to Ghami through Ghami La Pass (3765m) after crossing Nya La Pass (4025m) to sample Tibetan cuisine. We arrive in Tsarang after passing via the Mani walls, an old monastery, and the settlement of Drakmar.
We’ll arrive in Lo-Manthang today, a mystery enclosed city with a rich Buddhist tradition and the walled capital of the old ‘Kingdom of Lo.’ We may enjoy a spectacular 360-degree view of the mountains from here. We’ll be riding on open jeep trails and some trekking trails. After passing across the pass finally, we will be in Lo-Manthang in about half an hour.
Today, we will visit the fascinating Lo-Manthang, which has the centuries-old Gumba, the Royal Fortress, inhabited caves, a museum, and historic Buddhist lifestyles. The vibrant deserts provide stunning photographs, while the mountains offer a breathtaking backdrop. We can even track down the descendants of Lo’s former King and Queen and learn about the region’s legends. In Lo-Manthang, spend the night in a lodge.
We say our goodbyes to this fantastic location and return to some fresh single-track trails. Three passes must be crossed: Lo La (3950m), Chogo La (4280m), and Mui La. (4170m). On our way to Ghami, we’ll stop at Ghar Gompa, an old monastery revered by the Lo Nying Sect of Buddhism. In Ghar Gompa, we can find Padmasambhava’s scriptures. We then finally ride down to Dhakmar and then to Ghami.
Now we’ll retrace our steps from Ghami to Samar. We pass across five passes and several minor streams on our way to Samar. To get to Syangboche, we pass through several tiny settlements, monasteries, and barley fields. As we bike alongside Syangboche Khola, we also arrive at Chungsi Cave. We next pass via Jhuwa Khola and Samarkyuno Khola on our way to Samar.
We’ll begin early in the morning with a short climb to Dajori La Pass (3735m), then descend to Chele. We’ll ride to Kagbeni along the Kali Gandaki River’s banks, stopping for lunch at either Chhusang or Kagbeni. After lunch, we return to Jomsom by riding back along the Kali Gandaki Valley. Then we’ll bike past gorgeous apple orchards to Marpha, a charming town. Hence, We’ll spend the night at Marpha, well-known for its Apple brandy and other by-products.
We get up early to visit the monastery, cheese factory, and characteristic whitewashed buildings of Marpha. After a hearty breakfast, we’ll ride along the Kali Gandaki River toward a more subtropical location. Throughout the trip, we are surrounded by beautiful green scenery and the summits of snow-capped mountains. Finally, We will arrive in Tatopani, where you can unwind in a natural hot spring to relieve muscle tension and skin diseases.
After breakfast, we take a jeep road along the riverbanks to Beni Bazaar, where we will meet our Pokhara ride. It’s time to split ways with your riding companion—the bike. Our van will be waiting to transport us to the hotel and drive us back to Pokhara. Finally, we will enjoy the lovely lakeside while strolling and shopping and the nightlife.
We head to Pokhara airport after breakfast. After this, We will fly back to Kathmandu for 25 minutes, with beautiful views of the Annapurna massif, Lamjung Himal, Manaslu range, Ganesh Himal range, and Langtang Himal. Finally, We will meet you at the airport and bring you to your hotel in Kathmandu. Feel free to wander around Kathmandu’s local marketplaces.
Today is our last day together. Our corporate representative will pick you up 3 hours before your flight time. We look forward to seeing you again.
