Shey Phoksundo Lake trek is located in Lower Dolpo in the same way it is one of the most popular treks among adventure seekers. The main attraction of this trek is the freshwater lake, which is above an elevation of 3,612 m (11,850 ft) from sea level. It is Nepal’s most profound and second-largest lake. The turquoise blue lake is also considered a sacred lake. However, it lacks aquatic life. Therefore, the lake’s deep blue colour, with Ringmo village on its southern coast with snow-capped mountains in the background, is heaven on earth.

When you arrive in Kathmandu, you’ll be greeted by views of snow-capped mountain peaks. We will drive you to your hotel upon arrival. In the afternoon you can walk around Thamel. In the morning, you can stroll through Thamel’s streets or visit the Garden of Dreams. In the afternoon you will fly to Nepalgunj, a city in the western Terai near the Indian border that serves as a gateway to Nepal’s western region.
Today, you’ll fly to Juphal, the starting point for the trek to Phoksundo Lake, at 2500 meters. The trail winds through the maize fields as it climbs the valley of Thulo Bheri to the village of Kalagaunda. Follow the Bheri River’s south bank and pass Roop Ghar, a traditional water mill, before arriving at Dunai at 2145 meters.
Today you walk through the streets of Dunai and across the Bheri River Bridge. Follow the northern riverbank to Sulighat before heading north to the Shey Phoksundo National Park check-in point. The rocky trail ascends the Serpentine River Suli Ghad to Kageni, passing through hemp trees and then into a tropical forest of walnuts and maples. You can gain insights into Tibetan culture. Take the road to Shyanth village, 8268 feet above sea level, with views of fluttering prayer flags, waterfalls, and lush greenery. After another hour and a half of climbing up the narrow path, you’ll arrive at Chhepka, a village at 2660 meters.
You are visiting the Jharana waterfall which will be the first thing in the morning. Through a cedar forest, the trail ascends to a winter settlement used by the people of Ringmo village. The route then continues through open fields to the Jharana hotel, where you will spend the night at an elevation of 3370 meters. Therefore, a close-up view of the 330-meter-high Jharana Waterfall–one of the highest in Nepal–will reward you with the most general idea of Phoksundo Lake.
You’ll walk through birch trees to the top of the Phoksundo River, reaching Ringmo at 3460 meters. Continue north on the trail towards the ranger station at Phoksundo Lake. You’ll make your way to the yak-filled meadows of Ringmo, a Tibetan Bons town, where you’ll spend the night.
Today you’ll be exploring the area surrounding the magnificent Phoksundo Lake. The best is visiting a 900-year-old monastery in Bon perched on a cliff above the lake. Buddhists and Bonpo adherents regard Phoksundo Lake as sacred, believing it contains an underwater palace and a tantric spirit mandala. In addition, the lake is well-known for its iconic turquoise colour and breathtaking scenery. There are numerous beautiful glaciers near and above the lake area.
Return to Chhepka today. From the lake, take a river that leads to Sulighad. Before reaching Chhepka at 2600 meters, you pass through the village of Renji and the forests of fires and larches along the Sulighat River.
After breakfast, we will take the path to Juphal, where the airport lies through beautiful forests, fields, and villages.
