Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is also known as Annapurna Sunrise Trekking or Annapurna Panorama Trekking. It is a popular and relatively simple trek in the Annapurna region ideal for those who are in a short time. In fact, we can also say for those who are seeking a more accessible trekking trip in comparison to Annapurna Circuit or Everest Base Camp Trek. The area is known for its beautiful traditional villages and ethnic group. In addition rhododendron forest and a breathtaking 360-degree view of snowcapped mountains. It is located at an elevation of 3200m from sea level. It is right under the most outstanding Himalayan Range such as Dhaulagiri and Annapurna. The Poon Hill trek begins from Nayapul which is 3 hours drive from Pokhara. The trek will finish in 3 to 5 days if you walk at a moderate pace.
Additionally, poon Hill provides a breathtaking view of the Himalayan peaks which include Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Annapurna II, III, Dhaulagiri and many more. The trekking up to Poon Hill to see the sunrise over these beautiful snow-capped mountains is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Himalayan giants Dhaulagiri and Annapurna stand together with other peaks.
Poon Hill Trekking not only allows you to see terraced slopes, intriguing villages, wonderful rhododendron forest and lovely rice fields. It also offers the magnificent culture and lifestyle of ethnic groups such as Gurungs and Magars. Ghorepani and Ghandruk are two of the Annapurna Region’s main Gurung villages. Also, it’s always a joy to trek through the Annapurna foothills. Furthermore, it is always pleasing to pass through the village of Nepal’s ethnic cultures which are always generous to visitors.
Arrival in Kathmandu. Our representative will assist and transfer you to the hotel. You will check in to the hotel and accordingly we will do a short briefing about the trek. We will have dinner together and enjoy Nepali food. After having food you will take a rest at the hotel for tomorrow’s program.
On the second day, we will start our day with a lovely breakfast at the hotel. After this, your sightseeing will start to different places which have religious, historical and cultural beliefs. We visit to observe mastery of work in wood crafting, metal crafting and stone carving while having a tour in the Kathmandu valley. Kathmandu is alluring, artistic, and cultural. We will do sightseeing in places like Kathmandu Durbar Square, Boudhanath, and Pashupatinath. We will spend the evening in Bhaktapur Durbar Square. Therefore we will return back to the hotel in Kathmandu for an overnight stay.
We start the day with early morning breakfast and take a bus to Pokhara. The bus time is 07:00 AM(Nepal). The bus stops for the lunch in the highway but we recommend you only have Dalbhat. Usually, highway restaurants and hotels don’t serve very good food. Don’t forget to buy fruits or snacks before taking the bus. We reach Pokhara after a drive of 06 hours, or We will receive you at Pokhara Airport if you fly from Kathmandu. We will drive you to the hotel, a 20-25 minute drive into broader roads and colourful streets on the shores of the fantastic lake; Fewa. In addition, you can cycle around in the evening—overnight in the star category hotel in Pokhara(Customizable).
An hour drives to Nayapul (1025m) and treks to Ulleri(2070m). After an hour’s drive on a private vehicle from Pokhara, our tour starts at Nayapul. Nayapool is a large village with many shops and teahouses on the bank of the river. We start walking from Birethanti, and then after ascending steeply for the first 2 hours, we will ascend gently to reach Ulleri. Ulleri is a large Magar village at an altitude of 2,070m. Overnight at the guest house finally.
Trek to Ghorepani(2860m) from Ulleri(2070m). This trail gives us breathtaking views of Machhapuchhare (6997m.), Hiunchuli (6441m.), and Annapurna (7219m) south on the way. The trail is relatively easy, and then we will pass forest and rhododendron trees to Ghorepani. Finally, our Overnight at the guest house.
Today we will wake up early in the morning and start our hiking to Poon Hill. An hour early morning hike to Poon Hill offers you the sunrise view over Mt. Dhaulagiri (8167m.), Tukuche Peak (6920m.), Nilgiri (6940m.), Varaha Shikhar (7847m.), Mt. Annapurna I (8091m.), Annapurna South (7219m.), Annapurna III (7855m.), Machhapuchhare (6993m.), Annapurna IV (7525m.), Annapurna II (7937m.), Lamjung Himal (6931m.) and many more. Therefore after enjoying the breathtaking view of the mountains it’s time to go back. We hike down to Ghorepani and then we will have a hot breakfast at Lodge and trek to Hile. Our vehicle will be waiting for us at Hile for the Pickup and therefore we will drive back to Pokhara the same day.
We wake up at 06 in the morning. After having a quick breakfast at the hotel we will drive towards the Dam side to take our bus back to Kathmandu. It is 06 hours drive so it’s better if you buy some fruits and snacks for the road. The bus will stop for the lunch. You can have pure Nepali Dal Bhat because Highway food is usually not good in Nepal. The total distance to travel back to Kathmandu will be 200 km. Meanwhile, you can even fly back to Kathmandu on the evening flight if you want to explore more of Pokhara.
We will host you a farewell dinner or lunch to celebrate your trekking and the stories we created while trekking. Though it’s our last day we will keep our promise to meet again. Therefore we will drop you at the airport after having dinner or lunch together. Your transportation to the airport will be private.
